The Cobalt 1000 is Awesome Lasers’ first production hand-held LASER. It is the answer to many who have sought similar products from China, and have come away from the deal empty-handed and / or disappointed. The Cobalt Series LASER are weapon-mountable and are inconspicuous as flashlights when carried on one’s person. They deliver a bright, stable, hot beam, and are tolerant of rough handling and abuse that would destroy a DPSS LASER.

The Cobalt 1000 is a serious piece of equipment, and not designed to be a toy, or to be treated casually. Please exercise EXTREME caution when working with these devices.

[7] Required eyewear refers to protective safety goggles used for working with or servicing these devices. Normal use as intended for military applications does not require use of protective eyewear for merely observing the beam from shooter / operator’s position.

Cobalt 2000 / SF - Production LASER Kit - Possible Battery Configurations

Cobalt 2000 / SF in Standard Configuration. Photo shows optional stainless steel crennelated BezelCobalt 2000 / SF Standard Configuration requires TWO Hi-Capacity Protected # 18650 Batteries.

This is the Cobalt 2000 / SF LASER in the STANDARD CONFIGURATION. Your LASER kit will be supplied as shown (stainless crenellated Bezel is optional). The LASER is designed to operate with two # 18650 Hi-Capacity Li-ion batteries. MINIMUM voltage is 5.4 Volts DC; MAXIMUM voltage is 36 Volts DC.

Cobalt 2000 / SF in Recommended MAXIMUM Configuration. Photo shows unit with six # 18650 batteries, but you can add up to 9 batteries for greatly extended battery life.
Cobalt 2000 / SF 445nm 2,000mw LASER showing RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM Configuration components. Five Extension tubes and Six # 18650 batteries. LASER Driver will handle up to 36 Volts DC or an additional 3 batteries (9 total).

This is the Cobalt 2000 / SF LASER in its RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM configuration. The length of this monster is 18.25 inches (46.35 cm).

You can add three  more extension tubes and an additional three # 18650 batteries FOR A TOTAL OF NINE BATTERIES. However, more than six batteries makes the size unwieldy.

TECHNICAL REVIEW

Surely, nobody ever thought that someone could come up with a hand-held LASER design that would not only rival, but actually beat the world's best known and most talked about LASER company in the world - Wicked LASERS. However, somebody just did, and that 'somebody' is US - Awesome LASERS.

Our CERTIFIED 1,000 milliwatt Cobalt 1000 has OVER 30% MORE ACTUAL POWER OUTPUT of the Spyder III Arctic, and about 2/3 the size (length and girth combined).

Our CERTIFIED 2,000 milliwatt Cobalt 2000 is OVER TWICE the ACTUAL POWER OUTPUT of the Spyder III Arctic, and about 2/3 the size (length and girth combined).

Unlike Wicked, who spent a great deal of money on the design and manufacture of a unique and attractive package (Host) to house a ho-hum (compared to the Cobalt 2000) LASER, we invested many hundreds of hours and many thousands of dollars in the design and development of the LASER Pill itself - specifically, the driver board, and chose a very handsome existing flashlight host to build it into.

Of course, more power OUTPUT means you have to supply more power INPUT. Because of the shorter battery life using a single # 18650, we revised our original prototype (Cobalt 1500 and Cobalt 2000) designs which used a single # 18650 battery, opting for the additional length of a second battery, and more than TRIPLE the operating time using a single battery. To do this, we had to use a different driver board design entirely. It was "back to the drawing board", to re-design something that worked perfectly to obtain something that performed beyond all expectations. In the re-design process, we gained the ability to add not only another battery, but up to NINE batteries in series. Now we don't know why anyone would want to do this to such an extent (adding extra batteries causes the driver to draw less current, and the batteries last longer before they need to be recharged) except to have a combination walking stick / LASER, but you have to admit... it looks super cool... and I guess a LASER this long (18.25 inches with 6 batteries) could double as a nightstick.

Our unique, proprietary Linear Buck / Boost driver board requires 5.4 Volts minimum, and can handle up to 36 Volts (NINE # 18650 batteries in series). This feature allows you to simply add batteries to gain extraordinarily long operating times, and in a pinch, use other types of batteries (as long as they fit, or can be made to fit), so long as the voltage range (5.4 to 36 Volts) is satisfied. This is the ONLY LASER driver board anywhere that does this and will fit into such a small Pill.

Unlike the Spyder Arctic, the Cobalt 2000 / SF is weapons-mountable. An optional pressure switch (replaces the Tail cap) and allows you to use this LASER with any weapon that has a Picatinny Rail system.

In summation, the Cobalt 2000 / SF is state-of-the-art, cutting-edge technology portable LASER design. If at some point in time an enterprising and artistic LASER Enthusiast would like to use our LASER Pill in his / her own unique Host design, we will be selling the hermetically sealed, encapsulated Cobalt 2000 / SF Pills separately.
