Compare Cobalt 1000 to Cobalt 2000

Cobalt 1000 - The Next Generation of high-powered hand-held,
weapon-mountable LASERS

The following table compares OUR Cobalt 1000 to Wicked Lasers' Spyder III Arctic. In order that we can restrict the discussion to similar products, and compare "apples to apples" as-it-were, we have left the data for the Cobalt 2000 out of this discussion and out of the following chart. We hope to illustrate here, the advantages of choosing a Cobalt 1000 over the Spyder III Arctic for a number of very sound and very practical reasons. To compare the Cobalt 2000 to the Arctic would not be fair to the Arctic, because the Cobalt 2000 stands alone in the marketplace (unofficially as of the moment) as the world's most powerful hand-held LASER.

First, the Spyder III Arctic:
The first thing you notice in the photo below, is the Arctic's gargantuan size. At over 9 inches in length, even a holster that fits it cannot conceal it very well. Wicked doesn't even sell holsters for this LASER, but we do (in case you have one and want to schlep it around with you). At 13½ ounces, carrying this thing on your belt along with a cell phone and a clip-on key ring is enough to pull your pants down. Mounting it on a weapon is an expensive job for a machinist in a gunsmith's shop - because a custom mount has to be made, and when you're done, you'll end up with a very unwieldy and clumsy weapon. When you get through mounting it, there is no Pressure Switch available for it, so you must have that custom made as well - or you can do it yourself, if you want to, although this will not work with the G-2 models that have the Smartswitch®, because in order to get the LASER to fire, you must hold the Pressure Switch depressed while you 'enter the code', and by that time, in a combat situation, you're on the KIA roster. The sheer size makes it impossible to conceal on your person, and it is obvious to the most casual observer that this thing is something WAY out of the ordinary.

Although this LASER is sold as "<1,000 milliwatts", out of the dozens we've had in our shop here, NONE have ever measured above 750mw on our LPM. The majority of the ones we tested have fallen between 650 and 700mw at the aperture, and had a beam temperature (measured with a thermocouple) which NEVER exceeded 375°F. In this case the "<" ('less than' symbol) caveat means that the power specification isn't even in the ball park. You can estimate the power of any LASER yourself even if you don't have an LPM. The Arctic does NOT come with an individual power certification, so unless you own an LPM, the output power for your particular unit is pure guesswork.

And now, the Cobalt 1000:

Your first impression of this LASER might be skepticism bordering on disbelief on account of its size... but don't let the size fool you; this little baby out-shines the Arctic! The Cobalt 1000 looks like a standard Tactical flashlight, and can be carried easily and inconspicuously in a (supplied) belt holster. Weapons mounting is also easy; as you can use any number of standard Picatinny Rail Clamps. The light weight (5.2oz.) and small size won't turn your weapon into an Albatross. The Cobalt 1000 can also be operated by replacing the Tail Cap with a Pressure Pad Switch (sold separately).

This LASER is advertised as "<1,000 milliwatts", and WE TEST AND CERTIFY EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM. Actual power output may vary from unit-to-unit because of manufacturing and component variations, but ALL our LASERS will be "in the ball park" as far as power output is concerned, and we provide our customers with a CERTIFICATION DOCUMENT that attests to the measured performance of their particular LASER. By testing each one individually, we ensure 100% quality control, and that what is known as the "accumulation of tolerances" don't all add up to an occasional LASER that isn't what we say it is. What you get if you have the equipment to objectively measure it, is "in the ball park" and within the specifications. On average, the Cobalt 1000 has 33% more output power than the Arctic. Of course, the "Power to Burn" follows the beam intensity.

If you are purchasing a LASER for use on a Tactical Weapon (TALI), the Cobalt 1000 is your best choice. You will pay upwards of $350 for a LASER weapons sight that has an output power of less than 5 milliwatts. The Cobalt 1000 is more than 170 TIMES MORE POWERFUL than any commercial LASER sight made. Although not specifically designed for this use (there is no integral sighting adjustment), the Cobalt 1000 will put the Fear of God into an enemy combatant, and disable his ability to return fire (see spec sheet). If you are active duty US Military, call us or email us for a great deal on the most powerful LASER you can attach to your weapon.

Thanks a million Dave.... for all the work you put into your lasers, I can't be happier. Your cobalt 2000 is bad ass, and the cobalt 1000 is so small and packs one hell of a punch. Thank you for all your help and support and getting me my laser before I ship out... Ian and you Dave is why I and every other men and or woman fight for our freedom; we do our job cause we feel its right, but when someone takes the time to say thanks, it lets us all know there are people who really care about us men and women and are truly doing all they can to bring us home safe.

God bless everyone at AWESOME LASERS
and a special thanks to Dave and Ian

Thanks again,
Toni

FOOTNOTES
1. Smartswitch®  is a 'safety interlock' which requires that the operator push the tail cap button then push the Smartswitch® button 3 short, 2 long, there is an emission delay, and comes on in low power pulse mode. No Pressure switch is available, extensive modification to rail clamp, excess weight and size make this LASER is impractical for weapons mounting.
2. EMS China is slow and unreliable - passes through US Customs where majority of LASERS are confiscated (see import ban)
